Visited this restaurant on a wednesday, went back on friday..after racing season so it wasnt busy..seated ourselves and were promptly menued and offered beverages by a very friendly waitress..the prices were very good for all breakfast offerings..our order was served hot and was cooked to order and very hot, all condiments were brought without asking and coffee refills came just in time..pancake as big as the plate..Phil came out and asked all the diners about their meal..seems like the place is frequented by the locals and we liked it so much we ate here twice during our four day stay..better than the chains and very convenient to race track and bathhouse row
This place hasn't been open in this location long. Inside of the restaurant might remind you of grandma's old house. Food was great. No Waiting at 9 a.m. on a Sunday, during racing season. Prices were well below average and servings were larger than average. The pancakes are huge, they use saucers with your coffee cup and the service was excellent. Phil (owner) is the chef! Would be good for families as well.
Right across from Oaklawn's new entrance in a nicely decorated, clean building. Had a HUGE breakfast this morning with unbelievable portions. Delicious food and good service. Hubby had pecan pancakes with his meal - 2 plate-sized, thick ones - very good! The lunch menu on the board sounded good. They're open 7 days a week, but only till 2:30.
